The Stone Theatre in Hellbrunn Where culture meets nature

The Stone Theater (Steintheater) in Hellbrunn is a real one-of-a-kind. Originally used as a quarry, this theatre was almost entirely carved into the conglomerate rock of the Hellbrunn Hill. Markus Sittikus had it built to indulge his passion for music and theatre. Through narrow tunnels and corridors in the rock, the stage can be reached from all sides. What was previously used for pastoral and, presumably, opera performances is now a magical labyrinth for children and adults. The location of the Stone Theater is also particularly beautiful as it is located in the forest, surrounded by nature and thus exudes a very special magic. To this day, the Stone Theater continues to host events such as concerts or theatre performances.
